Lisbon Energy Summit & Exhibition returns leading Europe’s energy transition
In a bid to foster discussions on the transition to cleaner energy sources, the Lisbon Energy Summit & Exhibition returned on Monday to Lisbon, Portugal, and will continue to 29 May.
The event, endorsed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Portugal, aims to position the country as a global leader in new energies and technological innovation.
H.E. Maria da Graça Carvalho, Minister of Environment and Energy, will take the stage at the opening ceremony on 27 May to deliver the Ministerial Address. This marks the first time she will publicly unveil the Portuguese Government’s strategy for renewables and announce upcoming initiatives. Attendees can anticipate insights into pivotal developments driving the expansion of cross-border infrastructure and clean energy markets.
When speaking about her participation ahead of the inauguration, Her Excellency said: “I will be sharing some news about the Portuguese Government’s strategy for renewables and announcing upcoming initiatives.”
“I look forward to welcoming some of the most highly regarded professionals from the energy sector to Lisbon, where we will be enabling partnerships and collaborations across Europe to drive the expansion of cross-border infrastructure and clean energy markets, which will be pivotal to the new energy system,” she added.
Strategic conference to gather energy stakeholders
Government officials, policymakers, promoters, investors, and innovators will converge at the strategic conference to share strategies on transitioning the European Union's energy system.
Discussions will align with the REPowerEU initiatives, focusing on strengthening energy security and decarbonizing the energy supply.
Alvaro de Miguel, Country Lead Portugal at RWE highlighted, “Portugal has the potential to lead the development of floating offshore wind projects, with a significant opportunity to generate value in the country's economy while delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy.”
The program features three key conferences: Strategic, Hydrogen & Decarbonisation, and Climatetech. Each session will delve into different facets of the energy value chain, highlighting the imperative transition to zero carbon. Topics include hydrogen integration, decarbonisation strategies, and the latest in climate technology innovations.
The exhibition will spotlight products and projects driving the shift towards cleaner, greener energy systems.
Anna Beranek, SVP, Global Head of Corporate Affairs at Siemens Energy, expressed her enthusiasm about the conference, stating, “I’m excited to be speaking [at the Lisbon Energy Summit] about the steps we need to take to safeguard the European wind industry and why a level playing field, resilient supply chains, and public funding instruments play an important role in reaching our ambitious political targets.”
Divided into zones such as hydrogen and decarbonisation, solar, and innovation, attendees can explore cutting-edge technologies and initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable energy future.
