For almost four years WSG Canada has been providing a wide range of pre-commissioning, commissioning, general mechanical, and electrical and instrumentation services to significant projects, including the LNG Canada development in Kitimat, British Columbia.

WSG Energy Services has acquired Azoto Energy Services to become one of Canada’s largest nitrogen services providers for energy production and transmission clients throughout the country’s west. With a strong track record of providing nitrogen services in the world’s major energy hubs, the Azoto acquisition extends WSG’s reach in a strategically important market.

It says the deal also provides WSG with a competitive advantage as one of the few Canadian service providers that can offer packaged services.

Extended offering

For almost four years WSG Canada has been providing a wide range of pre-commissioning, commissioning, general mechanical, and electrical and instrumentation services to significant projects, including the LNG Canada development in Kitimat, British Columbia.

Going forward, the firm will be adding a number of its innovative services used in other global locations to “further enhance its customer solutions focus”. WSG facilities in Alberta and British Columbia have been strengthened with three additional bases in North Eastern BC and the greater Edmonton area.

Stateside possibilities

WSG is now well-placed to expand its client base in Canada, and also to pursue opportunities in the US. Something that is confirmed by Andrew Burrell, Group CEO of WSG Energy Services, who labelled the Azoto acquisition as a “testament to our commitment to enhance our presence as a leading service provider in North America”.

Burrell continued: “In addition to a strong Canadian team combined with our wide group knowledge base, we are investing significantly in both new equipment and an extensive refurbishment programme for current equipment to further enhance Azoto’s capabilities and offer additional customer value.

“Azoto has an excellent track record in service delivery and safety and, combined with WSG’s international network and resources, we are cementing our position as the leading specialist service provider in Western Canada.”

Continued expansion

The Azoto deal follows WSG’s August acquisition of BC’s Servco Industrial Contractors, which operates in multiple industrial sectors.

John Gordon, WSG’s President Canada, said bringing Azoto into the fold would put “one of Canada’s largest nitrogen fleets” at the disposal of customers. “With our ability to provide packaged services and end-to-end service solutions, it offers a compelling one-stop-shop solution to the pipeline and process sector,” Gordon continued.

“The reaction we have experienced since concluding the deal has been very positive, with the industry welcoming a viable, experienced and innovative provider who can offer flexible solutions and quick response times.”
