China to take tougher measures to reach energy targets
China’s planning agency, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said in a policy published on Thursday, it will take tougher measurements for regions that fail to meet targets that control’s energy use.
The agency said it would hold local officials accountable. However, national projects are exempted from these local consumption controls.
Moreover, they said that the country would improve its mechanisms for setting overall consumption targets while ensuring they are distributed fairly across regions.
It also said that China would promote trade in energy and market forces control to encourage energy efficiency.
