Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) said that electricity generated from clean sources reached 178 million kilowatt-hours in June 2021.

"Generating 178 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy prevents the emission of 115000 tons of greenhouse gases and 800 tons of local pollutants," said the agency in a statement.

These numbers means that they were able to save 39 million liters of water and 51 million cubic meters of fossil fuels equivalent to natural gas in May.

"The number of renewable generators for subscribers has reached 5180 units by the end of May with a total capacity of 69820 kW," added the agency.

Iran aims for a 5,000 MW increase in renewable capacity. In 2020, the agency said that solar power plants has reached 49 percent in the country.
