Woodside’s $34 Billion Browse Named Significant Status Project
(Bloomberg) -- Woodside Energy Group Ltd.’s A$48.7 billion ($34 billion) Browse gas field development has been declared a State Significant Project, allowing for expedited approvals from the Western Australia government.
The status will grant the “highest level of prioritization” for progressing approvals, Woodside said in a statement on Wednesday.
The offshore Browse project is a key pillar in Woodside’s growth plans and will help shore up supply for the country’s oldest liquefied natural gas export terminal, North West Shelf. Environmentalists have taken the federal government to court over a decision to extend the lifespan of North West Shelf to 2070.
