Industry collaboration key to tripling nuclear capacity

In an exclusive studio interview from the World Utilities Congress, Chiranjib Sengupta sat down with Dr. Sama Bilbao y Leon, Director General of the World Nuclear Association, to discuss why all segments of the energy industry need to work together in a pragmatic way to unlock more opportunities and overcome the challenges of the energy transition. Dr. Sama highlighted the global expansion of nuclear capacity and its increasing acceptance across the world, and how that’s adding momentum to the goal of tripling global nuclear capacity by 2050. She cited the growing recognition of energy realism and progress with the “coalition of the ambitious” that includes policymakers, financiers, energy users, and the nuclear industry, advocating an “all of the above” energy mix for the future where nuclear energy plays a critical role. She also touched on the urgent need to create more robust and reliable supply chains that can help the nuclear sector scale up for the future.
