From pipelines to platforms, Kent is engineering the energy transition
Digital technologies and AI are reshaping the energy landscape globally. Tush Doshi, Chief Operating Officer at Kent, discusses the company’s diverse project pipeline, its global push for practical decarbonisation, and its plans for Gastech 2025.
How critical is the role of digital and AI in supporting the energy transition?
Digital technologies and AI are fundamentally reshaping how we design, deliver and manage energy projects.
At Kent, our AI & Digital Engineering team works closely with clients to apply the right technologies at every stage of an asset’s lifecycle. This end-to-end perspective allows us to deliver continuous value and embed decarbonisation opportunities at every step.
A cornerstone of our approach is Ennova AI, our advanced asset management platform that brings real-time insights, immersive simulations, and autonomous decision-support tools into daily operations. We’re also automating complex engineering tasks. Through our Autonomous Lifecycle Framework, for instance, we now use AI agents to generate piping and instrumentation diagrams in a fraction of the time it previously took, freeing up engineers to focus on high-value work.
Crucially, these digital innovations are not limited to future-facing projects. We’re also applying them to optimise and decarbonise conventional energy assets. Supporting our clients on both sides of the energy equation — transition and tradition — is a vital part of our strategy. It is practical, applied innovation that empowers people and accelerates progress across the full spectrum of the energy industry.
Give us an overview of the project pipeline and recent milestones?
We’ve had a successful first half of 2025. In the Middle East, we were awarded a $1.1-billion EPCM contract by ADNOC Gas to support the expansion of its Asab and Buhasa facilities. In the Americas, we’re working with Syzygy Plasmonics on the world’s first electrified biogas-to-SAF plant in Uruguay. In the UK, we’ve been selected for the DESNZ Net Zero Framework, a key project to help accelerate the country’s energy transition. We’ve also been awarded critical work on the Wormington Compressor Station project and are supporting ENKA on the UK’s first large-scale low-carbon hydrogen production facility, which will capture around 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Another significant milestone was the completion of a six-year commissioning programme in Western Kazakhstan. This impressive complex campaign was delivered across five scopes, culminated in First Oil in January 2025 with over 24.5 million work hours and zero lost-time incidents.
Importantly, our project pipeline reflects the diversity of the energy sector. While we continue to advance technologies for a net-zero future, we also support major conventional energy projects by embedding sustainability measures into these developments.
How is Kent powering a sustainable future?
We’re delivering practical decarbonisation across the globe, advancing hydrogen, offshore wind, carbon capture, and sustainable aviation fuels, while also reducing emissions from conventional energy assets.
We’ve expanded into enabling infrastructure as well. Our acquisition of Sudlows Consulting, specialists in designing secure, efficient, low-carbon data centres, marks a strategic move into a high-growth, energy-intensive sector where sustainability must be front and centre.
We’re also investing in upskilling and reskilling our teams through training programmes, embedded learning, and AI-supported skills mapping, ensuring the talent that built the traditional energy industry can thrive in the new one.
Your presence at Gastech 2025
At Gastech 2025, our team will be highlighting how Ennova AI is transforming project delivery, making it faster, safer, and with better outcomes across the lifecycle. We’ll showcase our work in hydrogen, carbon capture, and sustainable fuels, and how our full-lifecycle expertise sets us apart. Whether it’s a new hydrogen facility or an existing gas platform, we bring integrated solutions that optimise asset performance while supporting decarbonisation simultaneously.
