MoU signing signals launch of dmg events’ expansion into Vietnam’s major events calendar
dmg events and Vietnam Exposition Center (VEC) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the company host a portfolio of major events in the South-East Asian economic powerhouse.
This begins with a significant energy event in December 2026, confirmed Geoff Dickinson, Chief Executive Officer of dmg events during the ceremony at ADIPEC 2025.
Shortly after signing the MoU with Tran Mai Hoa, CEO of VEC, he said it was a key time for dmg events to take its major events expertise to Vietnam.
“It’s one of the world’s fastest, most dynamic and exciting economies, with a government now committed to extraordinary plans for the next decade plus, investing in infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and all the essential services for the future development of Vietnam,” he said.
“This is absolutely the time to do an event in Vietnam, a time in which the government wants to make the nation go on and do even better, beyond even the extraordinary growth statistics they enjoy today.”
“This is absolutely the time to do an event in Vietnam, a time in which the government wants to make the nation go on and do even better, beyond even the extraordinary growth statistics they enjoy today.”
Dickinson confirmed dmg events will launch its Vietnam shows with an energy event.
“What we realise through all the energy events we do is that energy is the heart of everything. As Vietnam wants to power up its manufacturing economy, it needs energy as Vietnam wants to move, like so many nations, into growth in technology and AI, it needs energy.
“So the first priority from dmg events, from VEC group, the venue, and also from the Vietnam government is go out there and do a really large scale energy event and power the nation forward for the future.”
Vietnam has a good and trusted history of doing trade shows, but Dickinson says this kind of level and scale is new.
“This is really thanks to the magnificent new venue that VEC have built in Hanoi,” he continued. “It’s a world class venue and the Vietnam government are absolutely committed now to backing and supporting world class events. So this is a real moment in time.”
The energy event, to be named in the coming days, will be followed by events in other sectors, Dickinson added.
“We want to make sure the name projects the fact that it is a global energy event that will invite people in, ministers, heads of state from other countries, and CEOs from top companies.
“Very shortly after that, we’ll look at the other key priorities for the government and the venue.”
The timing couldn't be better. Infrastructure investment needs across Asia Pacific are expected to hit more than $3 trillion by 2030, so the partnership between dmg events and VEC comes exactly the right moment.
The 2026 energy event will give companies a place to show off their latest solutions, make new connections, and find investment opportunities that improve energy access and reliability across the region.
It's just the start of what dmg events and VEC hope will be a long partnership, bringing world-class energy events to Asia Pacific and connecting the region's fast-growing markets with global expertise and innovation.
