New York is offering $300 million for port improvements in a signal of support for an offshore wind industry that’s been battered by the Trump administration.

The state is seeking bids for the funds that will go toward upgrades for offshore wind manufacturing, staging and logistics, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority said Friday.

New York is throwing support behind an industry that had struggled with inflation and supply kinks even before President Donald Trump returned to the White House intent on stifling its rise.

Trump’s efforts to thwart offshore wind have included an attempt to stop work on the Empire Wind project off the coast of New York. In August, the administration terminated $679 million in funding for offshore wind port upgrades including one intended for a terminal on Staten Island.
