Wood, the global consulting and engineering company, has been selected by TotalEnergies to design and enhance the natural resources and electricity supply at the Ratawi field in Iraq. The engineering and procurement framework agreements are worth $11 million and have a three-year term.

The contracts form part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), a comprehensive multi-energy initiative designed to enhance Iraq's natural resources development and improve the country's electricity supply at the Ratawi field.

Under the three-year agreements, Wood will support TotalEnergies in advancing the Associated Gas Upstream Project (AGUP), a critical component of the GGIP. The primary objective is to debottleneck and upgrade existing facilities to increase energy production capacity to 120,000 barrels of oil per day upon completion of the first phase.

"We have an extensive track record in brownfield facility modifications and are committed to delivering safe, quality and innovative outcomes for TotalEnergies," said Shaun Dewar, Senior Vice President of Operations for Middle East and Africa at Wood.

Wood's teams will deliver the contracts in Basra and the United Arab Emirates, which will create additional roles as the project progresses. The company has already demonstrated its commitment to local employment, having organised six recruitment days that resulted in hiring 70 Iraqi nationals across various disciplines.

Wood currently employs over 4,000 people across the Middle East region, having increased its workforce by 500 in 2024. The company has been supporting the Ratawi field development since 2023.
