TotalEnergies consortium wins Scottish offshore wind farm leasing contract
A consortium of TotalEnergies, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, and RIDG, a Scottish developer in offshore wind, have secured the rights to develop a 2GW offshore wind farm project in the ScotWind leasing round.
The West of Orkney Windfarm is located 30km off the west coast of Orkney in Scotland and represents potentially more than US $5.45 billion (GBP£4 billion) of investment, the companies said in a statement.
The tender will help unlock a US $192 million initiative to support the development of the local supply chain, including the enhancement of ports and harbor infrastructure in Orkney and Caithness, the consortium said.
Once operational, the windfarm could also deliver renewable power to the Flotta Hydrogen Hub, a proposed large-scale green hydrogen production facility in Orkney.
