China's economic planner urges better coal transportation
China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) sent local economic planners, energy administrations and railway companies a notice asking them to strengthen coal transportation.
The country’s top economic planner asked these entities to reinforce coal transportation to secure enough supply to meet people’s heating demand during the upcoming winter season.
"Each railway company should strengthen coal transportation to power houses with inventory of less than seven days and launch the emergency supply mechanism timely," said the NDRC, as quoted by Reuters.
The entity also said that these organisations must arrange e medium- to long-term supply contracts of thermal coal that have a guarantee of transport capacity, the NDRC said.
