China power shortage spreads in the north-east
China is facing widening power supply cuts that have affected production at some factories including Apple and Tesla, reported Reuters on Monday.
According to the news agency, power cuts have left some shops in the northeast operating by candlelight and malls shut early.
Local media in China said that the power supply has been affected due to increase in coal prices. China depends highly on coal for its power supply.
China’s State Grid Corp pledged to ensure basic power supply and avoid electricity cuts by taking comprehensive measures to ensure people had enough power.
