Over 20 people trapped inside mine in China: Xinhua
China’s news agency reported Thursday that more than 20 people are trapped inside a coal mine that was flooded in the city of Xiaoyi, north China's Shanxi province.
The state news agency cited local authorities who said that the coal mine was flooded due to illegal mining.
“An initial investigation showed that a total of 22 people were working under the ground,” reported Xinhua.
The accident took place around 11 pm on Wednesday. Authorities have put three suspects under investigation. They are looking for the mine owner who has fled, Xinhua said.
