SolarEdge Says US Home Solar Market Weak Due to Financing Issues
(Bloomberg) -- SolarEdge Technologies CEO Shuki Nir says uncertainty over new tax credit rules for home solar equipment has made it more challenging for providers to raise financing for the systems and has led to softer customer demand for panels.
- Tax equity investors are awaiting further guidance from US Treasury on rules aimed at preventing China and other prohibited foreign entities from claiming domestic clean energy incentives, Nir says in interview
- Investors are asking for higher returns due to the increased risk, which makes leasing solar systems less financially viable: Nir
- “The belief is that once this clarification is finalized, we will see a rebound in the market,” CEO says
