Eni joint venture buys 110-MW wind portfolio in Italy
Italian energy major Eni said on Wednesday its joint venture GreenIT has acquired four wind farms in the country with a total capacity of 110 MW.
This marks the first investment by GreenIT – which has now acquired the whole portfolio of Fortore Energia Group. The portfolio comprises four wind parks, which were commissioned between 2008 and 2013, and have remaining incentives with a life of five years. The facilities will then be prepared for repowering to boost their installed capacity and productivity.
The transaction involves 55 wind turbines located in Puglia, in an area with high wind speed and among the most interesting repowering scenarios in the Italian market, Eni said.
Those wind farms have an average operating time of over 2,000 equivalent hours, with a production of over 230 GWh/year. Altogether, they will prevent emissions of around 100,000 tonnes/year of CO2, the company said in a statement.
GreenIT is a joint venture between Eni gas e luce - Plenitude and CDP Equity that was created in 2021 to add 1 GW of renewables in Italy by 2025.
