bp and Daimler Truck rolling hydrogen network
bp and Daimler Truck AG said on Wednesday that they plan to accelerate the introduction of a hydrogen network, as they aim to support the roll-out of a key technology for the decarbonisation of UK freight transport.
According to the companies bp will assess the feasibility of designing, constructing, operating and supplying a network of up to 25 hydrogen refuelling stations across the UK by 2030.
bp would supply the stations with ‘green’ hydrogen which is generated from water using renewable power. Daimler Truck said it expects to deliver hydrogen-powered fuel-cell trucks to its UK customers from 2025.
Daimler Truck wants to have vehicles that are CO2-neutral in driving operation in Europe, North America and Japan by 2039. They are currently testing manufacturer is testing a new Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck on public roads in Germany. The first series-produced GenH2 Truck are expected to begin in 2027.
