Amazon has 232 renewable power projects worldwide

Amazon is building 85 utility-scale solar and wind projects and 147 on site solar systems.

Technology giant Amazon said that as of June 2021 it has 232 renewable energy projects worldwide, that have the capacity to generate over 10,000 megawatts (MW) and deliver more than 27 million megawatt hours (MWh) of energy annually.

They said they have 85 utility-scale solar and wind projects and 147 on site solar systems.

The company has announced on Wednesday 14 new renewable energy projects in Canada, Finland, Spain, and the U.S. to advance its ambition to power 10.

They said that these buyout will power all their operations with renewable energy by 2025, which is  five years earlier of the company’s original target of 2030; bringing the company’s total renewable energy investments to 10GW.

With these acquisitions Amazon claims it’s the world’s largest corporate buyer of renewable energies. These investments will provide electricity to Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers, corporate offices and fulfilment centers.
