Lithium battery deal for more Renault electric cars
Lithium developer, Vulcan Energy, said it has entered into a five year agreement with Renault Group securing between 6,000 to 17,000 metric tonnes per years of battery grade lithium chemicals.
This agreement is the latest move by an electric vehicle maker to lockdown supply of the battery, with an expectation of an increase in demand over these kinds of cars.
Vulcan said that they will begin supply in 2026. Renault has a strategy to reach over 65 percent of electric and electrified cars in sales by 2025. The company wants 90 percent of their cars to be electric vehicles by 2030.
