NesmaKent Energy wins major Aramco contract for Saudi infrastructure project
NesmaKent Energy Company, a joint venture between Saudi contractor Nesma & Partners and global engineering firm Kent, has secured a significant contract with Aramco to spearhead the first phase of the National EPC Champion Initiative.
The deal marks the commencement of the first Engineering and Construction Management Services Contract under the programme, which aims to bolster Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure whilst supporting the kingdom's economic diversification goals.
The inaugural project will focus on enhancing water handling facilities in the South Ghawar Area, a critical component of Aramco's strategy to maintain crude oil production and achieve Maximum Sustainable Capacity (MSC) targets. NesmaKent will deploy its expertise in EPCM services and advanced execution technologies to optimise project delivery whilst minimising operational disruptions.
Aramco's National EPC Champion Programme was launched to support sustainable economic growth by creating employment opportunities and contributing to GDP. NesmaKent's approach integrates local expertise with international engineering standards, positioning the company as a key player in transforming Saudi Arabia's EPC landscape.
The contract framework is designed to streamline the transition from Design Basis Scoping Paper to Front-End Engineering Design, reducing traditional bidding periods and accelerating project delivery. NesmaKent will also focus on knowledge transfer and workforce development to advance Saudisation and in-kingdom value addition.
"Our partnership with Aramco under the National EPC Champion Program reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability," said Ahmad Hamadah, General Manager at NesmaKent. "We're not only delivering projects but actively shaping the future of Saudi Arabia's energy sector."
