Strengthening offshore connectivity at Mugharraq Port

At Noatum Maritime we see offshore logistics as more than the movement of cargo, it is the link that keeps offshore operations connected, efficient, and productive. Our focus has been on strengthening our collaborative approach across our offshore businesses, and our new shore base at Mugharraq Port operated by OFCO - the marine logistics arm of our offshore division - represents another step towards delivering that integration and connectivity.

Strategically located along Abu Dhabi’s western offshore corridor, the Mugharraq Port base directly supports offshore energy developments in the Al Dhafra region. One of the long-standing challenges in this sector has been bridging the gap between inland supply hubs and offshore sites. Mugharraq addresses that challenge head-on. By synchronising our marine and land operations within a single, fully integrated network, we can now provide a seamless logistics link between offshore fields and onshore industrial zones — improving efficiency, reliability, and turnaround times.

What makes Mugharraq particularly significant is its proximity to a number of islands, and oil and gas fields such as Hail & Gasha, which makes it the perfect hub for end-to-end offshore logistics. The base is equipped to manage the entire value chain of supply support, from port operations and marine agency services to material handling, warehousing, and onshore transport. It also supports our growing fleet of landing crafts, tugs, and barges, enabling efficient movement of equipment, project materials, and general cargo between the mainland and offshore islands such as Das, Zirku, and Umm Shaif

What makes Mugharraq particularly significant is its proximity to a number of islands, and oil and gas fields such as Hail & Gasha, which makes it the perfect hub for end-to-end offshore logistics.

Since commencing operations in mid-2025, OFCO’s Mugharraq facility has already proven its operational value. In just a few months, we have secured long-term framework agreements with leading EPC contractors and completed multiple voyages through regular shuttle services between islands and projects, moving more than 14,000 metric tonnes of cargo. These early results highlight the trust placed in OFCO as a logistics partner capable of delivering the speed, precision, and dependability that complex offshore projects demand.

However, the true strength of Mugharraq lies in the integration behind it. This new base represents the next phase of our strategy to align the capabilities of multiple AD Ports Group business clusters. By bringing together the expertise of Noatum Logistics, Noatum Offshore, and Noatum Ports under one coordinated network, we are able to offer a single solution that simplifies operations for EPC contractors. Instead of dealing with multiple entities, clients now have one unified point of contact for the full scope of their offshore logistics requirements — from cargo handling and port clearance to marine transport and last-mile delivery.

This integration not only streamlines communication and coordination but also improves asset utilisation and project delivery timelines. For our customers, it means fewer administrative complexities, faster mobilisation, and more predictable execution across every stage of their offshore supply chain.

Mugharraq’s location in the Al Dhafra region also provides a significant logistical advantage for vehicles. The port offers direct highway access, allowing trucks and heavy transport vehicles to reach the base without facing the typical road restrictions associated with city routes. This translates into faster turnaround times and smoother coordination between contractor workshops and port facilities — a critical factor when managing time-sensitive offshore projects.

Built with scalability in mind, the current facility spans a 36,000-square-metre open yard, a 4,000-square-metre apron area, and a 145-metre quay wall, with expansion potential up to 1.2 kilometres. As operations grow, we plan to further enhance the site with additional storage areas, workshops, and advanced cargo-handling equipment to meet the increasing needs of our clients across the offshore energy, construction, and engineering sectors.

Ultimately, Mugharraq represents far more than a new operational base for OFCO. With this latest expansion, OFCO continues to solidify its role as a leading offshore logistics provider and it strengthens Noatum Maritime’s commitment to creating a more connected, coordinated and client focused offshore division.
