Building local value
Tenaris’s industrial footprint in the UAE is anchored by Etihad Tubulars, a 235,000-square-meter complex in Abu Dhabi Industrial City (ICAD III). As the first facility of its kind in the country, it brings together a state-of-the-art OCTG threading line and a fully equipped pipe service yard for storage, inspection, and preparation of tubulars.
Recognised as an Industry 4.0 Digital Leader by the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), the site underscores Tenaris’s leadership in digital transformation and its proven record of integrating advanced solutions across its value chain.
Earlier this year, Etihad Tubulars completed the latest edition of the API Q1 certification, covering both its threading facility and its service center. In addition, the threading line was awarded the API 5CT license for casing and tubing, reinforcing customer confidence in quality and reliability.
The complex also hosts a TenarisUniversity training center, where technical workshops and hands-on programs help our customers and local teams expand their expertise and strengthen operational excellence.
Tenaris also has a pipe coating facility in the UAE located in Ras Al Khaimah, part of the company’s expanded footprint following the acquisition of Shawcor pipe coating business in 2023. The Ras Al Khaimah facility has coated more than 6,500 km of pipes in the region, serving some of the most prestigious projects for major NOCs and IOCs.
Together, Etihad Tubulars and Ras Al Khaimah form a robust industrial network that allows Tenaris to provide faster response times, ensure a reliable local supply, and create new opportunities for suppliers and professionals, supporting the UAE’s position as a regional hub for energy and industrial growth.
Optimising rig operations, digitally
Tenaris’s Rig Direct service model for OCTG pipe and accessories offers a comprehensive, digitally integrated approach that boosts operational efficiency, lowers costs, and enhances reliability and well integrity for oil and gas operations.
Today, Tenaris supports an average of 90 rigs per month in the UAE through Rig Direct. Its integrated services have significantly simplified rig site operations in the UAE, offering full traceability of each product from the mill to the well and allowing operators to leverage Tenaris’s OCTG technical expertise and extensive field experience at critical moments of their operations.
Driving pipeline innovation
Tenaris has consolidated a unique portfolio of coating solutions to better support its line pipe customers for both offshore and onshore projects, following the integration of Shawcor in 2023. “By combining forces, both teams have been strengthened. We have already observed early successes through collaborative projects, and we are excited to tap into the power of Tenaris’s global manufacturing system for the ex-Shawcor facilities, which sets a new industry standard,” shares Kevin Reizer, Tenaris Commercial Vice President of Pipelines & Services.
