A series of quakes hit the northeast coast of Japan on Sunday, triggering a tsunami advisory and causing some minor power outage.

The strongest of the quakes that struck off the coast of Iwate had a magnitude of 6.7, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency.

Shaking intensity was 4 in some areas, public broadcaster NHK reported. A tsunami of about 1 meter (3.3 feet) in height was expected while those that were observed were around 20 centimeters, it said.

A bullet train temporarily stopped due to power outage between Sendai and Shin-Aomori stations before it soon resuming operation, according to NHK. There has been no damage reported at Onagawa nuclear power plant in the northeast region, the NHK said, citing Tohoku Electric Power Co.
