Tesla wants to sell electricity in Texas and other locations. The company has built several utility-scale energy storage systems worldwide.

Tesla filed an application with the Public Utility Commission to sell electricity directly to customers in Texas.

The company is already building a big battery in Angleton, Texas to connect a 100 megawatt energy storage system to the grid.

The application was submitted by its new subsidiary, Tesla Energy Ventures, to become a retail electricity provider

The details of the project are not yet public. According to Texas Monthly, which first cited the news, Tesla had planned to enter the Texas’ power market even sooner, before the widespread blackouts in February.

Not only in Texas, but the company has also built several utility-scale energy storage systems worldwide.
