German utility RWE will not keep nuclear plant open

The German government is paying four nuclear operators, including RWE, around  US $3.05 billion to force them to close their nuclear plants.

German utility RWE told journalists on Tuesday that they wont let nuclear power plants open longer because they produce less carbon dioxide.

"We are not available for this," CEO Markus Krebber told journalists.

RWE, which relied heavily on nuclear power and coal, has now transferred itself into the largest green power companies in Europe.
