QatarEnergy, Pavilion and Chevron U.S.A. create new way to measure emissions from LNG
QatarEnergy, Pavilion and Chevron U.S.A. said they created a quantification and reporting methodology to produce a statement of greenhouse gas emissions for delivered Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) cargoes.
The companies said that the methodology is intended for wide adoption, the methodology provides a calculation and reporting framework for emissions from wellhead-to-discharge terminal, based on industry standards.
“This is the first such published methodology that will be applied to sales and purchase agreements (SPAs), specifically the executed SPAs by Pavilion Energy with QatarEnergy and Chevron,” said the companies in a statement on Wednesday.
The companies said that the methodology was developed by a team of technical specialists representing the three companies and are supported by global sustainability consultancy Environmental Resources Management (ERM).
The methodology, they said, aims to create a common standard for the measurement, reporting and verification of GHG emissions.
