GNL Quebec’s carbon-neutral Énergie Saguenay liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) project plans to operate the lowest carbon-intensity LNG plant in the world.

Siemens Energy said that it has partnered with Symbio Infrastructure to support Canada’s first carbon-neutral natural gas transmission line; as a technology solutions partner who will further provide further carbon emission footprint reduction solutions.

Under the agreements, Siemens Energy will support Symbio’s subsidiary GNL Quebec’s carbon-neutral Énergie Saguenay liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) project which plans to operate the lowest carbon-intensity LNG plant in the world.

The company said in a statement that Énergie Saguenay’s 10.5 MTPA LNG export facility will be powered by nearby renewable hydroelectricity. The facility is expected to set a global standard for carbon-neutral LNG production. It will be fed by Gazoduq’s carbon-neutral natural gas transmission line.

Symbio Infrastructure wants to build electrified carbon neutral infrastructure. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy will provide its portfolio of greener solutions for rotating equipment, electrical, and digital infrastructure.  Furthermore, both companies will work together to explore green hydrogen development opportunities as a new potential investment initiative to be considered by

“We’re proud to support Symbio’s carbon-neutral Canadian LNG project powered by hydroelectricity, and Canada’s first carbon-neutral natural gas transmission line, while also integrating cutting-edge Siemens Energy solutions and technology to realize one of the world’s lowest carbon intensity LNG value chains,” said Tim Holt, member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy in a statement.

Governments worldwide are prioritizing decarbonization and accelerating energy transition to combat global climate change. Many of which are pledging a net zero outcome within the decades coming.
