Deutsche ReGas, the German operator of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, has secured long-term regasification agreements with two major industry players, BASF, a global chemical manufacturing giant headquartered in Germany and Equinor, Norway’s state-backed energy company and a leading gas supplier to Europe.

According to reports, Equinor will supply LNG from its Hammerfest facility and other sources. This follows a previous 10-year gas supply agreement between BASF and Equinor signed in July 2025.

"We are proud to support the energy security of one of the leading chemical companies and to work with the leading supplier of natural gas for Germany and Europe," Deutsche ReGas CEO Ingo Wagner said in a media statement.

The terms and financial agreements have not been disclosed. These agreements involve the use of regasification capacity at Deutsche ReGas’s terminal in Mukran, located on the Baltic Sea.

The partnerships suggest a strategic partnership designed to ensure stable energy supply and infrastructure usage over multiple years. This move strengthens Germany’s energy security and reduces its dependence on Russian pipeline amid the Russia-Ukraine situation. For Deutsche ReGas this also confirms the commercial success of the Mukran terminal and demonstrates its ability to attract major global clients and secure long-term revenue streams.
