Talos Energy working on oil leak iin U.S. Gulf of Mexico post Ida
The U.S. Coast Guard and Houston-based oil company Talos Energy are responding to a large spill off the coast of Port Fourchon, Louisiana due to Hurricane Ida.
Talos Energy said in a statement on Sunday that its divers had inspected the site of the leak and identified the source of the leak as a ruptured 12-inch-diameter pipeline, which has been pulled out of its trench.
The company said in the statement that they are not the owner of the line. Moreover that they are working with theCoast Guard and other regulators to identify the responsible party.
The Associated Press identified the spill using satellite photographs provided by NOAA. The news agency published the photos last week of the affected areas including Port Fourchon which is a receiving hub for offshore oil and gas pipelines.
