The Nordex Group surpassed 5 GW of installed wind power capacity by the installing a N163/5.X turbine at the Kalistanneva wind farm in Finland.

The Nordex Group surpassed 5 GW of installed wind power capacity by the installing a N163/5.X turbine at the Kalistanneva wind farm in Finland, bringing the total operational turbines to 1,234 across Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

These turbines collectively produce enough clean electricity to power approximately 2 million households. The distribution of installed capacity is as follows: Finland leads with 2.6 GW, followed by Sweden with 1.6 GW, Norway with 641 MW, and Denmark with 152 MW.

Till Junge, Vice President of the Nordex Group’s Nordic region, highlighted the unique challenges of the Nordic markets. "The Nordic markets are often characterised by complex terrain, difficult site access, challenging climate conditions, and high expectations for HSE management. Our customers know that we can master these challenges and, thanks to our cold climate variants and the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System, also offer proven solutions for high turbine availability in the long, demanding winter months," Junge stated.

The Nordex Group's journey in the Nordic region began in the mid-1980s with its first turbine installations in Denmark. Over the years, Finland and Sweden have emerged as key drivers for new wind energy projects in the region.

Ibrahim Özarslan, CEO of Nordex Group’s Division Europe, expressed the company's ongoing commitment to the Nordic markets, saying, "Thanks to our large rotors, powerful turbines, and high tower variants, we are in a good position to maintain our market position and continuously expand our installation base in the region."

The Nordex Group has installed approximately 51 GW of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets globally. In 2023, the company generated consolidated sales of around EUR 6.5 billion and employs over 10,000 people.

The Group’s manufacturing network includes facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, the US (mothballed), and Mexico. Nordex's product portfolio focuses on onshore turbines in the 4 to 6 MW+ classes, designed to meet the specific needs of markets with limited space and grid capacity.
